Throughout history, many permanent substances such as paraffin, silicone, and polyacrylamide have been tried for lip augmentation, but all have resulted in disappointment. Today, lip filler is performed with a substance called Hyaluronic acid (HA). HA fillers are temporary, lasting between 6 and 12 months depending on their type. Swelling and Edema After Lip Filler
Following lip filler treatment, there will be swelling (edema) lasting approximately 2 days. This is completely normal. Intermittent cold application on the first day helps reduce edema. Bruising may rarely occur, and it usually heals within 7 days.
